FOREST SCARF

I have always loved seeing sunlight through pine tree trunks and how the layers of the land are emphasised by the strong vertical/diagonal rythm of plantation trees. I have never been able to capture this feeling in photographs but this technique gets closer. I like the way the trees become more ghostly, more mysterious without losing any of their colour or texture and I enjoy the choreographic quality of alternate bands of paper and weave dancing through the coloured warps. The warp is tied and dyed five times to acheive colours close to those in my digital prints. The prints, on archive quality paper, are cut into strips and used as weft interspersed with traditionally woven sections.
